A Book Has No Borders
We publish books we believe in and want them to find readers wherever they are, in as many languages as we can. Here’s how we think about our multilingual catalogue.
How we think about our multilingual catalogue — and the one promise we make about it, and the one we won’t.
A reader in one country and a reader halfway around the globe can fall for the same characters, laugh at the same lines, and stay up too late over the same story. Often the only thing standing between them and a book they’d love is language — and language is exactly the barrier we exist to remove. We publish the books we believe in, and then we want them to find their readers, wherever in the world those readers are.
It starts with a book worth reading
A multilingual catalogue doesn’t begin with logistics or spreadsheets. It begins with a story worth investing in. When we take on a book, it’s because we believe in it — because it’s the kind of book people love, recommend, and press into a friend’s hands. A story that doesn’t move readers in its original language won’t magically move them in another, so everything starts with the book simply being good.
And once we believe in a book, we don’t want to keep it to one set of readers. We want it out in the world, reaching as many people as it can — not as an afterthought or a bonus round, but as the whole point of the work.
Wherever the readers are
Readers who love cozy mysteries, hockey romance, mafia sagas, and small-town love stories aren’t confined to any one country or language. They’re everywhere. Someone who would adore one of our books might be reading tonight in French, or German, or Italian, or a language we haven’t reached yet. We don’t think that reader should miss out on a story just because of the language she happens to think and dream in.
So our goal is simple and ambitious at once: to carry the books we believe in to as many of those readers as we can, in as many languages as we can manage. A book has no borders — only the ones that translation hasn’t crossed yet. Our job is to keep crossing them.

A catalogue that keeps growing
Because of all this, our multilingual catalogue is always a work in progress — and we love it that way. New languages join over time. Books that reached readers in one part of the world make their way to another. The list is never finished, because there are always more readers, in more languages, who deserve to find a story that feels like home.
Every new language is a genuine milestone: a whole new group of readers who can now find us. And we love marking those moments — which is exactly why, when we add a new language, we tell you about it right here.
The whole idea, in one line
Publish the books we believe in. Send them as far as they can go, in as many languages as we can manage, with all the care each edition deserves. Don’t promise a date — promise a standard. And keep crossing borders until the readers who would love these stories can finally read them.
That’s what building a multilingual catalogue means to us. Not a rollout schedule. A commitment: that a good book shouldn’t be limited by the language it was first written in, and that somewhere out there is a reader in another language who’s going to love it — and we intend to reach her.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ninth Floor Press publish in multiple languages?
Yes. We publish the books we believe in and work to bring them to readers around the world in as many languages as we can. Our multilingual catalogue grows over time as we add new languages and carry more books across.
When will a book be available in my language?
We don’t promise dates or turnaround times. Translation is careful work, and each edition is done when it can be done justice rather than to a schedule. When a book arrives in a new language, it’s a real, fully produced edition made with the same care as the original.
How does a book reach readers in other languages?
It starts with a book we believe in. From there, it’s carefully translated by people who preserve its voice, humor, and heart, then edited and produced as a complete new edition in that language — so it reads as though it was always meant to be read that way.
How do I find out when you add a new language?
We announce every new-language milestone in our From the Publisher articles. Because our catalogue keeps growing, it’s worth checking back — a book or series you love may reach your language over time.
